The barrel and leaf sections of the hinge are fabricated from 1018 cold rolled steel and joined with welds of x-ray quality. The I-8500 is then machined to precise tolerances; allowing precision bearings and hinge pin components to be used which significantly reduce More... wear and friction. The results: a reliable hinge that will allow doors weighing several hundred pounds to be operated by the touch of a finger. The SERIES i-8500 comes in two capacities:Model numbers i-8505 through i-8508 have been designed and tested to support thrust loads or doors weighing up to 800 pounds. For those detention grade applications, they meet or exceed ASTM F1758 Grade 1 and are FBOP approved. They feature self-lubricating, maintenance free, radial and thrust bearings which have PV ratings as high as 28000 psi x fpm. A precision, ground stainless steel, maximum security hinge pin is welded in place.Model numbers i-8510 through i-8513 are rated for thrust loads or doors weighing up to 2000 pounds. They feature anti-friction needle roller bearings to transfer the higher radial and thrust loads and a hardened, precision ground, alloy steel pin. The hinge pin is also Armoloy® coated for additional corrosion protection.  Oil seals are provided to protect the hinge internals in more severe environments while lubrication holes allow for periodic greasing. To improve corrosion protection on all i-8500 models, we offer zinc plating or fabrication in stainless steel as an option. When ordering: specify with or without mounting holes and type of standard offset. Series i-8500 hinges can also be supplied with the following modifications: custom mounting hole layouts, shorter or longer hinge leafs and custom offsets. Less

The barrel and leaf sections of the hinge are fabricated from 1018 cold rolled steel (or 304/316 SST), and joined with welds of X-ray quality. The Series W hinges internals are precision machined to assure proper load distribution on the anti-friction needle roller More... bearings supporting the thrust and radial loads. A non-removable alloy steel hinge pin is procured to aerospace specifications, then hardened, precision ground to the same exacting tolerances to support the roller bearing elements. Finally, the hinge pin is Armoloy® coated for corrosion protection and to further reduce friction. Oil seals are provided to protect the hinge internals in more severe environments. The results: a maintenance free, reliable hinge that will allow doors weighing several thousand pounds to be operated by the touch of a finger. The Series W offers (+/- 1/8") adjustment in the thrust direction which means doors can be adjusted within their frames after installation. Since the thrust load can be distributed with the adjusting screw, located at the top of the hinge, optimization of load-life on bearings can be achieved. We recommend the load be removed from the hinges prior to adjustment.   Series W hinges can also be supplied with the following modifications: Custom mounting holes, shorter or longer hinge leaf, and custom offsets. Please consult with the Engineering Department. Less
